UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE – CHEMISTRY WEST FAÇADE RESTORATION

Another project completed alongside the University of Melbourne and Lovell Chen Architects. Ivy and our specialist trade subcontractors undertook the second stage of façade restoration works to the Chemistry building at the University’s Parkville Campus.

Key works included; use of the Dumond Smart Strip system to remove the paint from the damaged window reveals, concrete repairs and sympathetic traditional render to these, painting works the reveals and timber windows, glazing repairs, brick repairs and re-pointing, low pressure washing of the entire façade and removal of structural steel support beams from the rooftop plant area.

Works were coordinated to allow the building to remain fully operational throughout while operating in the busy university environment. Consideration had to be taken that we could conduct our restoration operations whilst ensuring the safety and minimal disruption of university staff, students and the public.
