Pentridge Prison Priority Works

Ivy Constructions has recently completed a comprehensive restoration project at the historic Pentridge Prison site in Coburg. The project included extensive works on the roof, membrane, and bluestone façades of D Division and F Division, as well as the South Gate Building, kitchen wing, former female receiving prison, and prison walls.

Collaborating with the skilled stonemasons, Ivy undertook significant repairs to the southern ‘Pentridge Village’ bluestone façades and walls. The scope of work included stone indent repairs, mortar repairs, repointing, render and brickwork repairs, façade washing, and removal of redundant and embedded services. A team of eight masons worked on-site throughout the duration of the project, supported by skilled tradesmen.

High level planning and coordination alongside our client, residents and architects were required in undertaking these works. Ivy’s approach involved a mixed use of scaffolding, EWPs and mobile cranes to access all areas, alongside pedestrian management, footpath closures and service isolations across three key stages of work.
