THE UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE – MELBOURNE SCHOOL OF DESIGN

Following the discovery of a historical photo of the heritage façade prior to its relocation. Ivy Constructions undertook a series of works to restore the doors back to their former condition.

The works included the fabrication and casting of aluminium tiles to match the photos, installation of timber moulding around the tiles, general timber repairs, adjustments to the doors, re-installation of a functional hinge/opening system, and a traditional three coat paint system sympathetic with the traditional door colouring.

Coming from the original bank of NSW wales building in the city and having been relocated to the University, It was imperative that this project was completed with the utmost care and being sensitive that the works suit both the nature and period of the doors.
